Ojibwe

The most cultural diversity in our region lays within the reservation walls. The Anishinaabe people.

It is important to recognize and understand cultural diversity. In this article and following articles we will dive in and learn more about the Anishinaabe culture. If you are wanting to learn basic phrases in a new language, learn beautiful artworks, music, and teachings in a different culture, then this is for you.

What in the world does Anishinaabe mean? I’m sure you’re crawling out of your seat dying to know. Anishinaabe is the Ojibwe word for Ojibwe. Well, what the heck is Ojibwe? The Ojibwe people is a Native American culture that exists in 7 out of the 11 reservations in Minnesota.  White Earth and Red Lake are the closest of these reservations. The Ojibwe people are a peaceful group. They are not known for having battles but for being kind and generous.

This is a beautiful culture to learn about. Come back next week to really dive into the Anishinaabe culture and learn about the Medicine Wheel. Tell your friends and family about the information you're learning. Be an overachiever, draw a medicine wheel, send it to me and your art could be the cover of next week's article!
